We have prepared answers to a few Frequently Asked Questions below:
How do I RSVP and when do I need to RSVP by?
Please click the link here or click ‘RSVP’ on bottom of the home page. Each invitee will need to RSVP separately. Please ensure that you responded by the 30th May 2025.
I have lost my paper invitation, where can I see all of the details?
There’s always one….. Any information included on the invitation is available on this website. Please read these ‘Frequently Asked Questions’, but feel free to reach out to Josie or Liam if you have any further questions.
Where is the Ceremony?
Our Wedding Ceremony will be held in Llandaff Cathedral, in Cardiff. The Cathedral’s website is located here.
Where is the Reception?
Our Wedding Reception will be held at Hensol Castle, in the Vale of Glamorgan (just outside of Cardiff!). For those of you who attended our Engagement Party, Hensol Castle is located opposite Llanarch Vineyard. Hensol Castle’s website is located here.
What time shall I arrive?
Our Wedding Ceremony starts at 13:00. We recommend arriving at Llandaff Cathedral anytime from 12:15. The Cathedral is set in beautiful grounds which are available for wandering and mingling; and Llandaff village is home to several cafes, shops and pubs should you wish to pass time.
Hensol Castle is about a 25 minute drive from Llandaff Cathedral. Whilst we have scheduled our Wedding Reception to start for 15:00 to allow for travel, photographs, and a time buffer, please feel free to arrive at Hensol Castle from 14:30.
What are the food options, and how do I order?
Please see our Wedding Menu for the food options which are available to choose for the Wedding Breakfast. As part of your RSVP, you will be asked to select whichever options you prefer. This is also where you can indicate dietary requirements and allergies (if any!).
There will also be snacks, an evening buffet and wedding cake!
What are the accommodation options?
Please see our Wedding Accommodation page for all of our recommendations.
How should I get to and from the Wedding Ceremony and the Reception?
Buses – we will be providing:
- a bus from Hensol Castle to Llandaff Cathedral, prior to the Ceremony. If you wish to take advantage of this, please be at Hensol at 12:00;
- a bus from Llandaff Cathedral to Hensol Castle, following the Ceremony; and
- a bus from Hensol Castle to the Cardiff City Centre, in the evening, at around 00:30. This is to allow those of you staying more centrally to reach your accommodation easily. Should you need onward travel, taxis are readily available from the Cardiff City Centre.
Please indicate on your RSPV whether you wish to have a seat on any (or all) of these busses, so that we have an idea of numbers.
Taxis
Taxis and Ubers are available in the Hensol area; however for late taxis we would always recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment or excessive waiting times. Veezu are the local taxi firm we recommend (and are most often the cheapest).
Driving
We understand that some of you may wish to drive to the Ceremony and the Reception.
Hensol Castle has ample parking, and cars can be left overnight. Llandaff Cathedral has more limited parking, but there is a paid car park in Llandaff village.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be indoors. Both venues have amazing outdoor spaces we are hoping to utilise (subject to the British weather), but also ample indoor spaces.
What shall I wear?
Please wear what you would normally wear to a wedding (lounge suit / formal dress). The Groom’s party will be wearing Morning Dress. If you have it and wish to do the same, you will not be out of place. Otherwise, as it’s an August wedding and based on the current colour theming it would be hard to clash, so please wear what makes you comfortable and look at your best!
Can I have a plus 1?
Most partners will be invited by name where appropriate! Plus ones will be indicated on invites where applicable or by prior discussion. Feel free to reach out to Josie or Liam if you have any questions.
What’s the position on babies and children?
Children (who require a seat and food) will be invited by name. Whilst there aren’t too many young babies amongst our friends and family, we are happy to discuss including them. Please reach out (if we don’t talk about it before).
Does the Cathedral have disabled access? Is Hensol Castle accessible?
Both venues have disabled access and are accessible via wheelchair. The Cathedral does struggle for disabled toilet facilities for anyone completely wheelchair bound (you would need to be able to take 4/5 steps to get to the toilet), but arrangements can be made. Please contact us if this may be an issue.
Hensol Castle is completely accessible.
Will there be a Wedding Registry?
Whilst the cliché of ‘your presence is a gift in itself’ applies here, we understand people do like to give gifts. Details of our Wedding Registry will follow, closer to the Wedding.
Will Sven be there?
Whilst the Cathedral is dog friendly, Hensol Castle is not. Similarly, white dresses and Sven paws don’t mix! The current plan is that Sven will be with his dog sitter for the wedding (which he will probably enjoy far more), although he may make a photo cameo!
When and where will any further updates be posted?
We will be updating these Frequently Asked Questions as and when further questions arise. If you have any questions please drop a message to Josie or Liam via text or email us at invitations@josephineandliam.com.
